OpenAI launches ChatGPT Work agent powered by GPT-5.6
OpenAI on July 9 launched ChatGPT Work, an agent inside ChatGPT that gathers context across a user's connected apps, breaks a goal into steps and works autonomously for hours to return finished spreadsheets, slides, documents and interactive web apps rather than chat replies. The agent is powered by the newly broadened GPT-5.6 model family (Sol, Terra and Luna) and follows the same usage structure as OpenAI's Codex, which is being folded into a single ChatGPT desktop app. OpenAI positioned the release as an escalation of the AI-agent race against rivals building autonomous 'do-the-work' assistants.
