Anthropic in talks to lease up to $10B of Meta compute

Anthropic is in early-stage talks to lease AI computing power from Meta in a deal that could be worth as much as $10 billion over two years, the New York Times reported July 17, with Anthropic paying in monthly increments and either side able to exit early. The arrangement would help Meta earn revenue from its data centers and compete with neocloud providers such as CoreWeave and Nebius, while giving Anthropic more capacity as it scales Claude ahead of a possible fall IPO. It would be smaller than the roughly $45 billion, three-year compute contract Anthropic struck with SpaceX in May for the Colossus 1 data center.
