Anthropic's Mythos AI model cracks post-quantum cipher HAWK

Anthropic said its Mythos Preview research model found a lattice-reduction attack that effectively halves the key strength of HAWK, a leading NIST post-quantum signature candidate, largely working autonomously over about 60 hours. The same research produced a new technique, dubbed the Mobius Bridge, that makes an existing attack on 7-round AES 200 to 800 times faster, and the HAWK team has since withdrawn the scheme from NIST's standardization process.
