Apple seeks injunction against OpenAI in trade secrets fight
Apple filed a motion on August 4 for a preliminary injunction and expedited discovery against OpenAI and two former Apple employees, Chang Liu and Tang Yew Tan, alleging misappropriation of trade secrets tied to Apple's unannounced hardware products. Apple said OpenAI had accepted three of five conditions it offered to avoid an injunction but refused to let Apple's lawyers and forensic experts examine OpenAI's devices and accounts; OpenAI said in response it does not have, nor want, any of Apple's trade secrets, and a hearing on the injunction is set for October 1, 2026.
