GE Vernova Hitachi advances Texas gas-plus-nuclear project
Blue Energy and GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy signed an agreement August 13 launching the next phase of their planned 2.5 GW 'gas-plus-nuclear' plant in Victoria, Texas, advancing engineering design, licensing and safety analysis ahead of a 2027 final investment decision. The companies also signed a slot-reservation agreement for 2029 delivery of two GE Vernova 7HA.02 gas turbines that would supply about 1 GW of power as early as 2030, before roughly 1.5 GW of GVH BWRX-300 small modular reactor output switches in as early as 2032.
