Unreleased Claude model advances century-old Riemann problem
Anthropic disclosed on August 10 that an unreleased research version of Claude raised the proven lower bound on the share of Riemann zeta function zeros satisfying the Riemann Hypothesis from 41.6% to 67.2%, the largest single-step advance on that benchmark in 46 years, by combining recent academic papers no human researcher had yet unified. The model coordinated about 60 subagents over roughly a day and a half, running thousands of shell commands and using 31 million output tokens; Anthropic stressed the result is not a proof of the full hypothesis, has not been peer reviewed, and cannot be fully reproduced since the model itself remains unidentified and unreleased.
