US Air Force says Boeing on pace fixing Air Force One cracks
The US Air Force said on August 20 that Boeing is making steady progress replacing roughly 300 corrosion-driven structural stringer cracks identified on each of the two 747-8-based Air Force One jets, a defect also found across the wider 747-8 fleet. As of late July the first aircraft needed 21 more repairs and the second had completed 104 of its 300 items, and the Air Force said the pace is not currently a threat to Boeing's mid-2028 delivery target.
