Anthropic hires Google TPU veteran for chip push
Anthropic has hired Amir Salek, founder and longtime head of Google's custom TPU chip program who oversaw its first seven generations through 2022, to its compute team, Bloomberg reported August 21. The hire lays groundwork for Anthropic to design its own AI chips; the company currently buys compute from Nvidia, Google and Amazon, and Salek will report to compute lead James Bradbury.
