Judge rules Pentagon's Anthropic blacklist unlawful

U.S. District Judge Rita Lin in San Francisco ruled on August 27 that the Pentagon's supply-chain-risk designation of Anthropic was unlawful First Amendment retaliation and arbitrary and capricious, writing that the measures were illegal and baseless. The order follows her March injunction blocking one designation and Trump's federal-use ban; a separate D.C. Circuit case over a second Pentagon designation remains pending, and the government is expected to appeal.
