Anthropic opens Life Sciences Verification Program

Anthropic said on September 17 it is opening the Life Sciences Verification Program, a beta that lets verified academic labs, startups, and pharma teams use Mythos, Opus, and Sonnet with classifiers more permissive for biology work that is blocked on generally available Fable models. Standard Use grants cover most research, clinical, and manufacturing workflows for a year after a credentials and ethics review; High-risk Use is a six-month add-on for a single project and, for Mythos, stays limited while Anthropic works with the U.S. government. The program is live on first-party API, Claude for Enterprise, and Team plans, not yet on individual plans or third-party platforms, and shifts enforcement from real-time blocking to 30-day offline monitoring of usage against each grant's stated scope.
