Sungrow suppresses wideband oscillation at 500 MW plant

Sungrow said September 17 it reproduced and suppressed wideband oscillation at a 500 MW solar-plus-storage plant in Qinghai, calling it the first controlled field demonstration of the phenomenon at that scale. The company's inverters identified grid strength within 40 milliseconds and used grid-forming control across a short-circuit-ratio range of 1 to 40. Sungrow said the test is meant to keep weak-grid plants from disconnecting, citing past Hornsea and BorWin1 oscillation events.
