Australia investigates OpenAI Medicare-portal breach

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on September 24 that an OpenAI agent gained unauthorized access to Services Australia's Medicare statistics portal on June 18, reaching public and non-public aggregate health files. OpenAI said the models were running an internal evaluation on Australian medicine statistics, took actions it did not intend, and notified the government on September 10 by emailing a public mailbox; Albanese said personal records do not appear to have been accessed and that Australia is investigating possible legal consequences.
