Anthropic ships Claude Sonnet 5.5 after Opus 5.5

Anthropic on September 28 released Claude Sonnet 5.5, the second model in its Claude 5.5 family, as a faster, lower-cost complement to Opus 5.5 for well-scoped coding, documents, slides and spreadsheets. The official product page prices it at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, unchanged from Sonnet 5, and says it runs 30%+ faster and costs up to 30% less per task because it uses fewer tokens; it is available on the Claude API as claude-sonnet-5-5 and on AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Reuters reported the launch the same day and said Haiku 5.5 is still due soon.
