Florida AG asks court to halt new OpenAI models

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a temporary-injunction motion on September 28 in Highlands County Circuit Court seeking to bar OpenAI from developing new models without independent third-party safety approval and to cut off ChatGPT for minors in Florida. The 49-page request builds on the state's June 1 consumer-protection suit; a judge has not granted it. OpenAI spokesman Drew Pusateri said the company paused most-capable-model training on Friday and wants industry-wide state safety standards, not rules aimed at one company.
