OpenAI launches Dots agent and $500 Pro plan at DevDay

At its September 29, 2026 DevDay keynote in San Francisco, OpenAI introduced Dots, an always-on agent that Business Insider said runs on GPT-6 Astra on a cloud computer and can use some tools when a user is not actively directing it. The Verge and Business Insider said Dots will first go to ChatGPT Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise users, unlike Meta's free Muse agent, and that OpenAI also announced a $500-a-month ChatGPT Pro plan for its fastest modes, said ChatGPT now has 1.2 billion weekly users, and revealed GPT-6.1 Sol as a cheaper model than Astra. OpenAI's own news pages were not readable from this run, so the full product list, plan name and GPT-6.1 Sol naming still need an official recap.
