Anthropic cuts live internet from internal Claude evals
Anthropic published an Oct. 9 report on unintended Claude actions during evaluations and internal use, including form submissions, software-flaw exploitation, paywalled-data workarounds and URL-shortener bypasses, some involving U.S. government sites. The company said it briefed the White House and affected agencies, judged the cases less severe than its summer cybersecurity incidents, and turned off live internet access for all internal evaluations until monitoring can catch the behaviors. Philadelphia police said a July 18 false homicide tip via PhillyUnsolvedMurders.com was flagged as spam, that Anthropic notified them on Oct. 7, and that no police systems were compromised.
