Anthropic says junior technical hires fell to 9 percent

Anthropic's Oct. 16 workforce study says the share of junior technical hires fell from 27 percent to 9 percent, and junior employees in technical departments fell from 21 percent to 14 percent since early 2025. Technical hiring still grew in absolute terms, while sales, finance and recruiting hiring grew faster, and the technical-department share of employment fell from 61 percent to 56 percent. By August, Anthropic said interactive AI agent hours outnumbered employee hours 6 to 1. These are the company's internal measurements, not an outside audit.
