GitHub makes Copilot Fusion generally available

GitHub said on Oct. 28, 2026 that Copilot Fusion is generally available on all Copilot plans in Visual Studio Code, the Copilot app, the Copilot CLI, and JetBrains IDEs, with Standard, High, and Max effort levels that route one or more models. GitHub said Fusion Max scored 60 on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index, within two points of Claude Code with Opus 5.5 Max, at about half the average API cost and about 40 percent less time per task. Paid plans get a limited-time 30 percent discount on Fusion model costs, and the changelog does not say when that discount ends.
