Once-daily next-generation CFTR modulator (vanzacaftor/tezacaftor/deutivacaftor). The Oct. 9, 2026 company release says the US indication is patients 6 years and older with a responsive CFTR variant. Use in children ages 2 to 5 is investigational.
At the 2026 North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference, Vertex reported interim open-label data from Study VX22-121-106 Cohort 2 in children ages 2 to 5. After at least 48 weeks, mean fecal elastase-1 was 239.7 mcg/g, a mean increase of 110.2 mcg/g, and 48.6% reached at least 200 mcg/g. Of 48 children eligible for a pancreatic-enzyme discontinuation substudy, 18 (37.5%) had stopped for a mean of 8.6 weeks. Across 66 enrolled children, 50% were not on pancreatic enzyme therapy at the data cut. Those ages remain investigational in the US.
Announced next steps from Vertex Pharmaceuticals that mention Alyftrek (vanzacaftor/tezacaftor/deutivacaftor).
