Scale of the phone business
In the fiscal quarter ended June 27, 2026, Apple reported $109.4 billion of revenue, up 16 percent year over year, and called it the strongest June quarter the company had reported. The consolidated statement shows total net sales of $109,417 million, of which iPhone was $54,252 million and Services were $30,739 million. Greater China net sales were $18,816 million. The release does not give an iPhone unit count or an iPhone average selling price.
Leadership
In April 2026 Apple said Tim Cook would become executive chairman and John Ternus, then senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, would become chief executive officer effective September 1, 2026. The July 30, 2026 earnings release still calls Cook CEO because that release predates the handoff.
iPhone 18 Pro
Apple announced iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026. Pre-orders began on September 12 and availability began on September 18. In the United States, iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,299. The announcement gives no shipment volume. iPhone 17 remains a current specs-page model and is profiled separately. This profile does not add a foldable iPhone.
Margin and earnings
Company gross margin in the quarter was 50.1 percent. Apple said that included a favorable impact of about 2 percentage points from tariff refunds. Diluted earnings per share were $2.02, up 29 percent year over year. Those figures are for the whole company, not an iPhone-only margin.
What to watch
IDC's 2026 outlook, which is a forecast and not a shipment history, expects Apple to enter foldables in the second half of 2026 and forecasts more than 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027. Those figures are not current sales. The next filings are also the check on whether they name Ternus as CEO after the September 1, 2026 effective date.
