Boeing opens new 737 line as output reaches 47 jets a month

Boeing is activating a fourth 737 assembly line - the 'North Line' at its Renton, Washington plant - beginning operations in July to support higher output as the planemaker runs its existing lines at a rate of 47 aircraft per month. CEO Kelly Ortberg has said Boeing passed the FAA's capstone review for rate 47, up from the 42-per-month cap imposed after the 2024 door-plug accident, and the new line is meant to enable further increases beyond 47. The ramp is central to Boeing's push to stabilize production and cut into a large backlog of undelivered 737 MAX jets.
