Boston Dynamics' Atlas robot makes World Cup debut
Boston Dynamics' electric Atlas humanoid delivered the match ball to the referee at the Brazil–Norway round-of-16 game in East Rutherford, New Jersey on July 5, in what the company and partner Hyundai billed as the first integration of a humanoid robot into a live World Cup match. The robot walked pitchside and performed goal-celebration moves before handing over the ball. Boston Dynamics has said its 2026 Atlas production is committed to Hyundai and Google DeepMind.
