Waymo goes driverless in Las Vegas, adds three more cities

Waymo said on July 8 it is expanding fully autonomous service to four new U.S. markets - Las Vegas, San Diego, Tampa and Denver - with Las Vegas vehicles operating with no human at the wheel that day and the others to follow, initially for Alphabet employees before opening to the public. The Alphabet unit now runs driverless rides in more than 10 cities, operates roughly 3,500 robotaxis and has surpassed 20 million trips. The push advances Waymo's stated goal of 1 million paid rides per week by the end of 2026, ahead of a planned London launch.
