DeepSeek plans gigawatt-scale AI data center in Inner Mongolia
DeepSeek is developing a roughly one-gigawatt data center in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, about 350 km northwest of Beijing, Bloomberg reported on July 30, citing people familiar with the matter. The company plans to build its own facility while also leasing additional capacity from other providers in the city, which already hosts dozens of data center projects drawn by cheap electricity and nearly ten months a year of natural cooling; DeepSeek is targeting bringing at least part of the capacity online by late 2027 or early 2028.
