Amazon completes $50 billion investment in OpenAI
Amazon disclosed in a July 31 SEC filing that it finished funding its $50 billion commitment to OpenAI, investing $15 billion in the first quarter, $13.7 billion in the second quarter, and the remaining $21.3 billion after June 30. The investment is part of OpenAI's larger $110 billion funding round at a $730 billion pre-money valuation, alongside $30 billion each from Nvidia and SoftBank, and makes AWS the exclusive third-party cloud provider for OpenAI's Frontier program, with prior AWS infrastructure deals potentially expanding to $100 billion over eight years.
