SpaceXAI sues Minnesota over AI 'nudification' ban

xAI, rebranded SpaceXAI, sued Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison on July 27 in federal court, challenging the state's first-in-the-nation law banning AI tools that create nonconsensual nude images before it takes effect August 1. The 38-page complaint does not contest the state's goal of banning distribution of nonconsensual intimate images but argues the law's ban on a wide range of constitutionally protected content violates the First Amendment, and comes months after global backlash over Grok generating sexualized images, including of children.
