DeepSeek resumes funding round, seeks $8B at $74B valuation
DeepSeek reopened its second external funding round around August 6, seeking close to $8 billion at a valuation near 500 billion yuan (about $74 billion), with Monolith Management, an early Moonshot AI backer, reportedly in talks to participate. The round had been paused in late July after leaked remarks from founder Liang Wenfeng frustrated some investors, and the new target valuation is up from the roughly $71 billion figure reported when talks first emerged in mid-July.
