Tesla starts Megapack 3 output at new 50 GWh Texas plant
Tesla's energy division began producing Megapack 3 batteries on August 6 at a new Megafactory in Brookshire, Texas, going from groundbreaking to operation in about 16 months. The plant is designed for 50 gigawatt-hours of annual Megapack 3 capacity, with each unit storing about 5 MWh, roughly 28% more than the prior Megapack 2 XL, adding a third production site alongside Tesla's Lathrop and Shanghai megafactories as storage deployments grow faster than vehicle deliveries.
