Joby Aviation to acquire defense firm Resonant Sciences for $500M
Joby Aviation signed a definitive agreement on August 10-11 to acquire Ohio-based defense technology company Resonant Sciences for about $500 million, funded with roughly $450 million in cash and $50 million in Joby common stock. Resonant, which designs radio-frequency and mission systems for U.S. national security customers and reports $100 million in trailing 12-month revenue, will become Joby's dedicated defense business upon closing, expected in the first half of 2027, expanding Joby's push beyond air taxis into hybrid aircraft, autonomy and classified government programs.
