Moderna opens trial of combined RSV/hMPV shot for older adults
Moderna has started a Phase 1 randomized, dose-escalation trial of mRNA-1365 (Profile 2), a multicomponent vaccine targeting both RSV and human metapneumovirus in a single shot for adults 60 and older, first submitted to the clinical trial registry on August 10. The study compares the combination candidate's safety and immune response against two versions of Moderna's already-approved single-pathogen RSV vaccine mRNA-1345, broadening the company's respiratory-vaccine pipeline beyond COVID-19 and standalone RSV shots.
