Nvidia trims OpenAI Ohio data center funding guarantee
Nvidia has scaled back the financial backstop it is negotiating for OpenAI's planned 10-gigawatt Ohio data center campus on Department of Energy land in Pike County, now expected to guarantee less than $120 billion for the project's first phase, down from about $250 billion previously discussed, the Wall Street Journal reported August 14. The pullback follows investor concern over Nvidia's financing risk exposure; a separate GPU-financing arrangement of up to $350 billion for the same site is reportedly being negotiated alongside the reduced backstop.
