GM-LG Ultium Cells restarts Ohio battery plant

Ultium Cells, the GM-LG Energy Solution battery joint venture, resumed production at its Warren (Lordstown), Ohio plant on August 18 after a seven-month shutdown triggered by weak EV demand following the expiration of the federal EV tax credit. Roughly 1,400 workers are back on site as the plant, Ultium's first factory with about 35 GWh of annual capacity for NCMA pouch cells, ramps output for GM's electric lineup including the Chevrolet Equinox EV and Cadillac Lyriq.
