Nvidia backs $1.5B SB Energy deal for 8GW Ohio AI campus
Nvidia said on August 17 it will invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy and has secured land, power and shell capacity at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio, becoming the exclusive AI compute infrastructure provider there. SB Energy will build, own and operate the data center under a 20-year lease with OpenAI as the customer, with an initial 4.25 IT-GW of capacity and an option for 3.75 IT-GW more coming online in phases starting 2028, backed by at least 10 GW of new SoftBank-affiliated power generation and $4.2 billion of AEP Ohio grid investment.
