Airbus backs off stricter office mandate after Spanish strikes

Airbus dropped CEO Guillaume Faury's push to require white-collar staff on-site four days a week by September, instead keeping its current policy of up to two remote days a week, people familiar with the matter said around August 21. The retreat follows weeks of rolling strikes by Spanish employees, where unions say about 40% of Airbus's roughly 14,000 Spain-based staff have walked out at some point over remote work, transport, leave and pay, though aircraft production has not been affected.
