Airbus delivers first special-operations NH90 to France

Airbus Helicopters delivered the first NH90 Standard 2 special-operations variant to France's DGA armament directorate on July 30, fitted with a Safran Euroflir 410D electro-optical system, a new digital map generator, and provisions for a third crew member. France has ordered 18 of the type for its special forces squadron at Pau, with deliveries running through mid-2029; Spain joined the program in December 2025 with an order for 31 units of a similar standard.
