Airbus links German and Swedish air defenses on Crete
Airbus said that during NATO exercise SPARTAN ARROW 26 on Crete it connected a German IRIS-T SLM and a Swedish Patriot to the German SAMOC command post for the first time, and also linked the German Army's short-range LeFlaSys. Airbus called the all-German crew's first IRIS-T live firing a prerequisite for NATO certification and said Sweden's first independent Patriot firing through the network marked NATO certification of those Swedish systems. Janes reported that the German defence ministry announced the IRIS-T live firing on Oct. 14 and that the Swedish Armed Forces called the Patriot shots their first live-fire exercise.
