K2 Space to host Space Force laser communications tests
The US Space Force awarded K2 Space $22.9 million under its Enterprise Space Terminal program to demonstrate direct satellite-to-satellite laser communications. K2 will procure standardized optical crosslink terminals, integrate them onto two of its own satellite buses, and launch and operate them, with the demonstration running through 2028 to support the Space Development Agency's Tracking Layer and Resilient Missile Warning-Missile Tracking networks.
