Waymo begins mapping Munich streets for first EU market

Waymo said on August 25 it will start manually driving vehicles through Munich in the coming weeks to build the high-definition maps and validate its software for the city's driving conditions, with trained specialists behind the wheel through a validation period. The company is targeting driverless ride-hailing in Munich by the end of 2027, making Germany its first planned market in the European Union alongside existing international pushes in London and Tokyo.
