Palantir's Maven AI system becomes Pentagon program of record

The Pentagon completed the Maven Smart System's transition into a formal program of record in late August, Reuters and multiple outlets reported, following Deputy Secretary of War Steve Feinberg's March directive and the August 5 appointment of a dedicated program director. The designation moves Maven from year-to-year contract funding into the structured defense budget cycle, and comes as the Pentagon's FY2027 budget separately requests $2.3 billion over five years to expand Maven and a related Joint Fires Network.
