UAE grants Starlink a 10-year satellite license

The UAE's Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority granted Starlink Satellite Communications LLC a 10-year General Space Services License on August 28, 2026, authorizing it to establish, operate and manage a public satellite communications network and sell broadband in the country. The license covers consumers, businesses and government users plus maritime and aviation connectivity, adding a space-based layer beside the UAE's fiber and 5G networks. TDRA said Starlink must operate under UAE security, spectrum and consumer-protection rules; Dubai and Abu Dhabi were already listed at capacity on Starlink's site.
