Waymo opens paid robotaxi rides in three more cities

Waymo began offering paid driverless rides to the general public in Denver, San Diego, and Tampa on September 1, 2026, converting employee-only operations it started in those cities in July into full commercial service and bringing its US footprint to 14 metro areas. Denver and San Diego riders can only book the Ojai, Waymo's Zeekr-based purpose-built robotaxi; each new market starts with dozens of vehicles scaling toward hundreds over time. Waymo's national fleet now exceeds 4,000 vehicles delivering more than 500,000 paid rides a week, with a goal of 1 million weekly rides by year-end.
