Nvidia confirms $12.93 billion Hugging Face acquisition

Nvidia confirmed on September 3, 2026 a definitive agreement to acquire open-source AI platform Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, its largest acquisition ever and up from the roughly $14 billion figure reported as a rumor two days earlier. Nvidia will pay up to $1 billion more in employee retention bonuses, and CEO Jensen Huang pledged Hugging Face, used by more than 18 million developers to share over 3 million models and 500,000 datasets, will remain an open platform that does not require users to adopt Nvidia products. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
