Amazon Leo waits on orbit raise before commercial launch
Amazon told PCMag it is still waiting for Leo satellites to reach assigned operating orbits around 600 km before opening commercial service, missing the mid-2026 target CEO Andy Jassy had set. Astronomer Jonathan McDowell said only 299 of the roughly 396 deployed satellites have reached operational orbit, with most of the rest expected by November. Amazon said it is expanding closed-beta testing with employees and select enterprise customers and did not give a new public launch date.
