BYD inaugurates first Indonesia NEV plant in Subang
BYD opened its first Indonesian new-energy vehicle plant on September 3, 2026 at Subang Smartpolitan in West Java, its 13th factory worldwide, on about 126 hectares with annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and National Economic Council chair Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan attended a ceremonial roll-off of a BYD M6 DM as the 100,000th locally produced unit. BYD said the site now employs more than 5,000 local workers (toward more than 20,000 at full output), works with more than 200 supply-chain partners, and is preparing for a 60% local-content (TKDN) target in January 2027.
