Waymo seeks Korea entry and tests Hyundai Ioniq 5

At the 2026 Global Mobility Conference in Seoul on September 7, Waymo managing director Steven Han said the company wants to enter South Korea as it expands beyond the United States, after forming a Korean unit on July 24. He did not give a test-ops or commercial launch date. Waymo is running verification tests with Hyundai on Ioniq 5 vehicles, integrating its sixth-generation Waymo Driver, which Han said is expected to perform better in harsh winter conditions.
