XPeng IRON walks off automated robot production line

XPeng said on September 8, 2026 that it commissioned what it calls the first automated production line for advanced humanoid robots in Guangzhou, and that an IRON unit walked off the line under its own power. CEO He Xiaopeng said more than 80 percent of core processes are automated and called the step small but a start on manufacturing a new product category. Mass production is still targeted by the end of 2026 for XPeng stores and campuses, with external sales planned for 2027.
