OpenAI Foundation funds $125M public health datasets

The OpenAI Foundation on September 15 launched Public Data for Health, its second science program after AI for Alzheimer's, with more than $125 million in initial grants to nonprofits and universities to create open scientific datasets. UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center received $40 million to start the Initiative for Generative Immunotherapy, generating public multimodal data on tumor surface proteins and T-cell responses for personalized cancer vaccines. Other first-tranche projects include OpenADMET at UCSF for drug ADMET prediction datasets and CTD Commons to publish regulatory records from failed drug programs.
