Allianz signs on to insure Waymo's European robotaxi fleet

Allianz Partners and Waymo announced on September 16 a strategic partnership covering insurance, claims handling, safety research and vehicle recovery for Waymo's planned autonomous ride-hailing service in Europe, starting in Germany. Allianz will provide motor fleet cover plus multinational liability and product-liability protection and develop insurance models built for autonomous mobility platforms, with digital end-to-end claims run through its Solvd Group unit and crash analysis and risk modeling contributed by the Allianz Center for Technology. The agreement, reported as an initial three-year deal, underpins Waymo's Munich rollout, where mapping and supervised testing are due this autumn and commercial driverless rides are targeted for the end of 2027.
