Nvidia, Google and Emerald launch AI grid alliance

On September 16 Nvidia, Google and grid-software firm Emerald AI launched the AI Energy Management Alliance, a coalition that wants AI data centers treated as flexible grid resources that can shift compute, use batteries or paired generation, and cut demand when the system is tight, in exchange for faster and larger interconnection. Launch partners include Anthropic plus utilities and generators AES, Constellation, National Grid, NRG and RWE. Google said it can already curtail about 1 GW through utility agreements, and TechCrunch reported AEMA's case that demand response could free room for about 100 GW of additional data-center connections; Nvidia's own announcement did not state that figure.
