NASA awards SpaceX $946 million for three crew flights

NASA said on September 18 that it awarded SpaceX a firm-fixed-price Commercial Crew Transportation Capability modification covering Crew-15, Crew-16, and Crew-17 to the International Space Station, valued at $946 million for the three missions and related services. The change lifts SpaceX to 17 CCtCap missions and $5.92 billion on the contract, with a period of performance through 2030, covering ground, launch, in-orbit, return and recovery, cargo, and a docked lifeboat role. The sole-source award follows a May notice of intent; NASA has not named crews or exact launch dates, and said the modification does not stop later purchases of additional transportation services.
